Sparking in wire causes fire at Taj Mahal, none hurt
AGRA, Oct. 14 -- A fire broke out near the southern gate of the Taj Mahal complex due to sparking in a joint cable there on Sunday, said an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) official.
There were fumes due to burning of plastic coating of wire but it caused no harm because both entry and exit at the southern gate is closed for tourists, said senior conservation assistant for ASI posted at Taj Mahal Prince Vajpayee.
"It was not a fire but sparking caused by a joint cable in an electric line in an isolated corner of garden area near the southern gate exit. It was later controlled.
The power supply company was informed and the fault was rectified," Vajpayee added....
