Lucknow, Feb. 14 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) legislators, both members of the legislative assembly and the council, protested outside the Uttar Pradesh Assembly building before the start of the Budget session on Thursday.

The protest lasted for nearly 45 minutes, till governor Anandiben Patel entered the assembly to address the joint session of both the houses.

Nearly 100 SP legislators protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizen (NRC), National Population Register (NPA) and several other issues. The protestors also raised slogans against rise in the price of cooking gas cylinder, unemployment, farmers' issues, law and order and crime against women.
