SP extends support to students' protest at AMU
Agra, Aug. 17 -- Rajya Sabha member Ramjilal Suman extended support of the Samajwadi Party to the ongoing protest by students of the Aligarh Muslim University on Saturday. Suman reached AMU on Saturday and met the agitating students.
He justified demands of the students seeking withdrawal of fee hike, holding of students' union election. He expressed concern over a few students resorting to a hunger strike to press for their demands.
"Students of AMU have been protesting against fees hike and are seeking holding of students' union elections. Results of a few students have been withheld by the AMU administration. It is a matter of concern that a few students have gone on a hunger strike," said Suman.
The Samajwadi Party stands with the protesting students and if the AMU administration fails to address issues raised by the students, then the district and city unit of SP will draft a strategy to support students," said Suman while assuring them to raise the issue in parliament.
"There is no issue which cannot be resolved through talks. Students from AMU deserve better response from AMU administration. The university is a prestigious one and has given luminaries in the past," said Suman. HTC...
