PRAYAGRAJ, June 18 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) state president Shyam Lal Pal has demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged rape of a minor girl in Lohanda village of Kaushambi. On Tuesday, after being stopped by police from proceeding towards Kaushambi to meet the victim, Pal addressed the media at the SP's district office in George Town. Earlier in the day, police placed the SP leader under house arrest at his residence in Narayan Das Purwa locality of Jhunsi. A large number of party workers gathered outside his house in protest. After hours of persuasion, Pal left for the party office. At the SP office, he demanded financial assistance of Rs.1 crore for the victim and accused BJP leaders of disturbing social harmony. htc...
