PRAYAGRAJ, June 23 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has extended financial assistance Rs 1 lakh to the girl involved in the Kaushambi rape case. The cheque was handed over to the girl's mother by the party's district president on Sunday. According to party leaders, amount is intended to support girl's education. Akhilesh Yadav has been consistently attacking the state government over the case since the beginning.Acting on his instructions, the party's state president Shyamlal Pal was scheduled to visit the village, but before he could do so, police placed him under house arrest at the party office in Prayagraj. Acting on the directions of the party president, district unit president Dayashankar Singh visited the village with a delegation on Sunday morning and handed over the cheque. He stated that the amount should be used for the girl's education and assured that additional financial assistance would be provided if needed.
