Sonbhadra police get transitremand of kingpin's father
VARANASI, Dec. 2 -- The Sonbhadra police obtained transit remand of Bhola Prasad Jaiswal, the father of the main accused Shubham Jaiswal, from a Kolkata court in connection with the ongoing probe into the Codeine-based cough syrup nexus, a police officer said on Monday. Bhola Prasad was arrested from Kolkata on Sunday.
Sonbhadra's circle officer, Sadar, Randhir Mishra said, "The accused Bhola Prasad Jaiswal is being brought to Sonbhadra on transit remand. The police team bringing him to Sonbhadra will arrive here on Tuesday."
Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Varanasi police also plans to seek remand of Bhola Prasad Jaiswal and will file a remand application in court.
The SIT will question Bhola Prasad, a senior officer said.
The three-member SIT led by ADCP Saravanan T is looking to uncover the full nexus and identify others involved in the illegal activity.
A case was registered against Bhola Prasad and Shubham in Varanasi in mid-November after their names surfaced in the probe.
Thereafter, Varanasi commissioner of police Mohit Agarwal constituted the SIT....
