Sonbhadra admn launches campaign for plastic-freetourist spots
VARANASI, May 15 -- Nestled amidst the hills, all tourist spots will be made free from plastic under a campaign launched by Sonbhadra district administration at the tourist spot Abadi, popularly known as Mini Goa.
Chief development officer (CDO) Jagrati Awasthi, who led the drive with her team to rid the tourist spot Abadi of plastic waste, said, "This campaign is aimed at making all the tourist spots of the district Sonbhadra plastic free."
She said that during the launch of the campaign a few days ago, the Abadi spot was divided into four zones for the clean-up. She took charge of one zone herself, while the remaining three were led by district development officer Hemant Singh, deputy commissioner MGNREGA Ravindra Veer, and district panchayat officer Namita Sharan respectively. Each team included local villagers, government staff, and schoolchildren. The collective efforts resulted in the collection of approximately 200 kilograms of plastic waste from the picnic spot....
