Smoke scare halts Bundelkhand Exp
Varanasi, Nov. 30 -- The Bundelkhand Express was stopped at Shankargarh station early on Saturday morning after thick smoke was seen coming from its general coach. The train reached the station at about 5.35am, and railway staff quickly halted it and moved all passengers to safety.
Passengers said the smoke came suddenly from the general compartment, causing confusion on the platform. C&W staff, station workers and RPF personnel reached the coach at once and worked to control the smoke. No injuries or major damage were reported.
The train remained at Shankargarh for nearly 1 hour and 20 minutes while the situation was brought under control. After the coach was checked and declared safe, the train resumed its journey towards Prayagraj and Varanasi. RPF outpost in-charge RS Dhyani, head constables Kripashankar Rai, Mukesh Rajak and Rajman, along with station superintendent PC Jha, porter Dhirendra and other staff, acted quickly to prevent a serious incident. Passengers also cooperated by leaving the coach calmly.
