Lucknow, Oct. 11 -- Smartphones are proving to be a boon for the healthcare sector. While certain apps are helping in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, the use of smartphones in the follow-up care, mainly through WhatsApp, is saving a lot of time and money of patients with long-term health conditions, a study has concluded.

In fact, the satisfaction level of thyroid cancer patients who were given consultation using smartphone apps after surgery was as good as that of patient coming to the hospital for the follow-up, the study found.
