Meerut, May 7 -- Police arrested two drug traffickers and recovered 504 grams of illegal smack valued at approximately Rs.1 crore from their possession in Saharanpur district on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Shamshad and Samaydin, residents of Nawazpur Kheda village, under the jurisdiction of Nakud police station, were apprehended on May 5 during a routine vehicle checking drive. According to Ashok Sisodia, circle officer, Gangoh, police made the arrests following the seizure of the contraband. Based on the recovery, a case has been registered against both accused under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Nakud police station. Authorities confirmed that Shamshad was already wanted in connection with an earlier NDPS case, and that both individuals have documented criminal histories. Police records reveal that Shamshad has nine cases registered against him under the NDPS Act, while Samaydin has been booked in three similar cases at the same police station. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to their involvement in smuggling smack. They reportedly supplied the contraband to truck drivers along the Gangoh bypass and to other individuals, acting on their supplier's instructions. The duo is said to have earned profits from the illegal trade, which they divided among themselves.
