PRAYAGRAJ, May 12 -- Several religious and cultural programmes were organised on Monday at select Shiva temples across the district, on the occasion of Somnath Swabhiman Parv. The events featured mantra chanting, Omkar recitation, Somnath Sankalp Samvad and spiritual discourses, drawing enthusiastic participation from devotees and dignitaries alike. As part of the celebrations, live broadcast of the programme addressed by the Prime Minister from the Somnath Temple in Gujarat, as well as the address of chief minister Yogi Adityanath from the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, were screened at prominent temples in the city. These included the historic Nagavasuki Temple, where the live telecast was viewed by the mayor of Prayagraj, Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesharwani, along with other distinguished guests and devotees. Under the banner of Somnath Swabhiman Parv, a grand Kalash Yatra was also organised, proceeding from the Nagavasuki Temple to the Dashashwamedh Temple. The procession witnessed the participation of an 11-member group of pilgrims who had recently returned from a pilgrimage to Somnath. Those present in the Kalash Yatra included mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesharwani, Captain Umesh Chandra Dwivedi, renowned folk artist Vedanand Vishwakarma, and several other devotees. In addition to city-based events, programmes were held at select temples across various tehsils and urban areas of the district. Devotional activities such as bhajans, Vedic mantra chanting, and ceremonial Aarti were successfully organised at multiple sites. Program coordinator, regional archives, department of culture, Prayagraj, Rakesh Kumar Verma, said the widespread participation and devotional fervour highlighted the spiritual, cultural, and historical significance of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, reinforcing collective pride in India's ancient Shiva traditions....
