Skill dev to play key role in U.P. push for trillion-$ economy: Minister
Lucknow, May 7 -- Minister of state (independent charge) for vocational education, skill development and entrepreneurship Kapil Dev Agarwal has said that skill development will play a key role in UP's trillion-dollar-economy push. He said this while inaugurating an event, "Uttar Pradesh towards entrepreneurship development" organised by UP Skill Development Mission at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, on Tuesday.
Agarwal said, "For this, the government is calling upon the industry to increase innovation, investment and participation in skill development." He said that the aim of the government is to make the youth job creators instead of job seekers. He urged the youth to take the training they are receiving seriously and hone their skills.
He said that the effort is to make the youth of the state competitive at the international level while also encouraging traditional indigenous industries. The objective of this event was to bring all stakeholders related to skill development, including Sector Skill Council, industry, entrepreneurs, government and academics, on one platform to implement Skill Development Mission programmes in the right direction.
During the programme, the minister released the inaugural issue of 'Hunar Mitra' magazine and also visited the exhibition organised by the Mission.
Trainees employed in various fields shared their experiences of how through training they have got better opportunities for self-reliance and employment.
A discussion focused on the need for vocational education was also organised. Representatives from Lucknow University, Sector Skill Council, Project Implementation Agency (PIA) and industrial establishments participated in the discussion....
