Six of a family killed in Sambhal e-way crash
MEERUT, Nov. 28 -- Six members of a family were killed and four others injured after a car collided head-on with a pickup truck laden with vegetables on the Ganga Expressway near Rasoolpur Dhathra village under the Hayatnagar police station limits in Sambhal district on Thursday evening, police said.
According to officials, the accident occurred around 7.30 pm when the family was returning after attending a function at their ancestral village, Bisaru, in the Behjoi area. The deceased were identified as Renu, 35, wife of Rohit Kumar, a resident of Adampur in Amroha; their children Bhaskar, 7, and Riya, 10; Rohit's sister Devwati, 40; sister-in-law Geeta, 28; and Kapil, 12, the son of Rohit's brother-in-law Kishan. Rohit, 38, and his elder son Jai, 13, sustained critical injuries and were undergoing treatment at the district hospital, police said.
The driver and helper of the pickup truck also suffered grievous injuries, they added.
Police said the car had entered the Ganga Expressway from Leharawan, and the collision took place near Rasoolpur Dhathra. All victims were taken to the district hospital, where six were declared dead on arrival. ASP Kuldeep Singh reached the accident site along with personnel from several police stations. "Six people have died while the four injured are undergoing treatment. The cause of the accident is being investigated, and appropriate action will be taken," Sambhal SP Krishan Kumar Bishnoi said....
