Bahraich, May 12 -- Six people were injured after two cars collided head-on on the Lucknow-Bahraich highway near Rukunapur village under Fakharpur police station area on Monday afternoon. One of the vehicles caught fire following the impact, triggering panic in the area. Locals, including teachers from a nearby madrasa, rushed to the spot and helped rescue passengers trapped inside the damaged vehicles before the flames spread further. Witnesses said the collision sounded like an explosion, prompting nearby residents to run towards the highway. The injured from the Ertiga were identified as Jitendra Lal, Mithilesh, Amulya Kushwaha, Meena Kushwaha and Agamya Singh, all residents of Bahraich. Two injured occupants of the Hyundai car - Rudra Pratap and Jitendra Singh - are residents of Barabanki.
