VARANASI, May 26 -- Six people were booked for allegedly beating a Dalit farmer and his wife in Ainch village under Oonjh police station area of Bhadohi, police said. The accused attacked the farmer and his wife when they raised objection to cattle entering the field, the police added. A police officer said that a villager Deepak Kumar was growing urad crop by taking someone else's field on lease. He alleged that the cattle of one Rajaram Yadav of the same village entered his field and started grazing the crop. When he objected to it, Rajaram Yadav got angry and started abusing Deepak and used castiest slurs against him. Police said that Deepak alleges that the accused along with Dilajit Yadav, Arvind Yadav, Rajendra Yadav, Parvati Devi and Tara Devi thrashed him and his family with iron rods. He alleged that the accused dragged Deepak's wife Sumitra into the field by hair, beat her up and even tore her clothes. Deepak and Sumitra were seriously injured in the assault. They have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Four other family members have also suffered minor injuries. A police officer said that based on complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of BNS against six people, including Rajaram Yadav. Confirming it, station officer Ramakant Yadav said that a case has been registered. The matter is being investigated....
