Six booked for scam in Rs 35 crore govt land in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 14 -- Six individuals were on Saturday booked for allegedly selling government land worth Rs 35 crore in Mustafabad area of Mauaima Nagar panchayat in the trans-Ganga region of the district. The action was taken following a complaint by a revenue official, officials said.
According to police, around three bigha and 11 biswa of land parcels located in Lonar Gram Sabha under Mauaima police station limits were allegedly sold using forged documents by the land mafia. The land, which included both government and private tenure holdings, was reportedly sold on October 29 through manipulated revenue records. The land was originally recorded in the name of Khaliluddin, but it was allegedly sold by Muzaffar Haq to Mauaima residents Aamir, Munaf Abrar Ansari and Mutiburrahman besides Pratapgarh resident Lallu Soni, and Mauaima resident Pappu, with Bhim Singh listed as a witness.
On the complaint of Rajkumar Sagar, a lekhpal posted in Mehendauri, the police have booked all the accused under charges of tampering with government records, forgery, and using forged documents, confirmed SHO of Mauaima police station Pankaj Awasthi.
Investigations revealed that land records dating back to 1984 were deliberately removed, leaving no trace of legal heirs. Two separate plot numbers were merged into a single khasra number, and the land category was falsely changed from agricultural to residential.
When the complaint reached District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, he directed SDM Soraon Gyanendra Singh to probe the matter. During the investigation, lekhpal Rajkumar Sagar discovered that the 1984 records were missing. Older documents were then retrieved, which revealed the original land map and identified the rightful owners....
