PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 29 -- Six blue bulls (Nilgai, the largest antelope in Asia, native to the Indian subcontinent) died after coming in contact with low-hanging high-tension wires in the fields in Adhauli village under the Pashchim Sharira electricity substation area in Kaushambi on Friday afternoon. The incident has sparked anger among local residents over alleged negligence by electricity department officials. According to villagers, the high-tension wires running over the fields of Adhauli and surrounding areas had been hanging dangerously low for several months. Despite repeated complaints from farmers, no inspection or repair work had been carried out. Villagers claim the wires had descended to such a low level that they posed threat not only to animals but also to farmers working in the fields. Yashwant Singh, junior engineer of Pashchim Sharira electricity sub-division, said, "Villagers were not aware of hanging wires. Line-men have been called, and issue will be resolved within next two days."htc...
