Rudrapur, May 17 -- Six Asha workers were caught conducting a deal for deliveries in a private hospital of Kashipur on Thursday. Health officials have submitted a report to the district magistrate (DM) to terminate their services, said officials familiar with the matter. "A person wishing not to be named had informed the DM that some Asha workers had gathered in a private hospital for conducting a deal in connection with the deliveries. We raided two private hospitals and in one private hospital six Asha workers were caught," said Dr DP Singh, additional chief medical officer (ACMO) US Nagar. A joint team of ACMO and tehsildar Akshay Bhatt raided two hospitals on information that some Asha workers are gathered there to conduct a deal in connection of deliveries. Team caught them in a private hospital on Rampur road in Kashipur. Six Asha workers were found there. On their presence, the team sought explanations from them for the reasons for their gathering. Later, the team submitted its report to the DM for action. "We have submitted our report to the DM. We have requested to terminate Asha workers' services," said Singh. Health department officials emphasised admitting pregnant women in the government hospital for safe deliveries. Asha workers play a vital role in admitting such women. Some Asha workers admit pregnant women in private hospitals in a bid to get commission from the hospital. It is against the norms of the health department....
