Dehradun/Haldwani, Nov. 13 -- A special investigation team (SIT) constituted to probe the communal violence in Ramnagar has started its investigation and pasted a notice at the houses of three accused, officers aware of the matter said on Wednesday. The 12-member SIT is headed by the SP City (Haldwani) Manoj Katyal, said officers. Sushil Kumar, station house officer at Ramnagar police station, and SIT member, said, "We have pasted notice at the houses of three absconding accused, including Madan Joshi, Raju Rawat and Jatin to join the investigation." Last month, according to police, members of some Hindu organisations, acting on information about alleged beef being transported from Bareilly, intercepted a pickup (registration number UK 04 CB 8886) at the Chhoi intersection. Upon checking, meat was found in the vehicle, which infuriated the mob. The crowd allegedly vandalized the pickup and attacked the driver, Nasir, a resident of Chhoi. Based on a complaint by driver Nasir's wife Noorjahan, police booked five individuals including Madan Joshi, Raju Rawat Karan, Sagar Manral, and Pankaj, and around 30 to 40 unidentified persons under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 190 (unlawful assembly) of the BNS. 11 people have been arrested so far, said the police....
