LUCKNOW, Oct. 30 -- The process for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Lucknow would begin on November 4, with booth-level officers (BLOs) set to go door to door to distribute voter forms and verify details, district magistrate Vishak G, who is also the district election officer, said during a meeting with representatives of political parties and all electoral registration officers at the collectorate here on Wednesday. The revision exercise, ordered by the Election Commission of India (ECI), is being carried out for assembly constituencies based on the eligibility date of January 1, 2026. In accordance with the ECI guidelines, training and preparation work for the SIR is being conducted from October 28 to November 3, 2025. The draft voter list will be published on December 9, 2025, and claims and objections will be accepted until January 8, 2026. Hearings, verifications, and final decisions on claims will take place up to January 31, 2026, while the final electoral roll will be published on February 7, 2026. The district election officer directed all EROs to ensure proper training for their assistants, supervisors, and BLOs to maintain accuracy throughout the process. He also said that as per ECI instructions, no polling station should have more than 1,200 voters, and the verification and rationalisation of polling stations would be completed during this period. The district election officer appealed to all the political parties to appoint their booth-level agents (BLAs) and collect and submit the counting forms through them. In Lucknow district, there are a total of 39,94,535 voters, 3,789 polling stations, and 1,550 polling booths.
