Shramik Suvidha Kendras planned at labour crossings
PRAYAGRAJ, May 19 -- To protect labourers from harsh conditions such as waiting under the sun without access to drinking water, toilets, or shade, Dr Ambedkar Shramik Suvidha Kendras will soon be constructed at five key labour crossings in Prayagraj. These will be multi-storey buildings (ground plus two floors) equipped with waiting rooms, drinking water, toilets, lighting and mobile charging points.
A feasibility survey will be conducted at the five labour crossings to determine space availability and finalise the building design accordingly. Principal secretary (labour) MKS Sundaram, during his visit to Prayagraj on Saturday, reviewed the proposal at Circuit House along with senior officials from the district administration and labour department.
Divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant and district magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar were also present. Deputy commissioner (labour) Rajesh Mishra shared that five locations have been identified: Rajapur, Teliyarganj, Naini, Allahpur, and Rambagh labour crossings.
According to the proposal, the Shramik Suvidha Kendras will be constructed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The ground floor will have waiting rooms with seating, drinking water facilities, toilets, lighting, and mobile charging points. The first floor will house a mess for construction workers and registered labourers at subsidised rates. The second floor will host skill development centers....
