Shivri clean-up crosses major milestone
India, Dec. 31 -- 2025 marked a major milestone in the long-pending cleanup of the Shivri dumping site. By early in the year, nearly 53% of the estimated 18-19 lakh metric tonnes of accumulated legacy waste-around 10 lakh metric tonnes-had already been processed, easing pressure on surrounding neighbourhoods. As the year progressed, the momentum continued, with reports indicating that up to 75% of the legacy waste had been cleared through sustained, monitored operations.
