Shivaji Memorial work likely to begin soon in Agra: Maha CM
AGRA, Feb. 20 -- Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday announced that land acquisition for a memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Agra Fort, where the Maratha king was held captive by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1666, is in its final stage.
Addressing the 396th Jayanti celebration at Agra Fort, Fadnavis said the Maharashtra government has constituted a committee and with swift action from UP CM Yogi Adityanath, construction work is expected to begin soon.
He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring Maratha history gets 20 pages in NCERT books, replacing what he said was disproportionate coverage of Mughal history.
Fadnavis promised to bring Modi to Agra Fort in 2030 for the 400th Jayanti celebrations.
The event, organised by Ajinkya Devgiri Pratishthan, was attended by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagr and Union minister CR Patil, among others....
