Shiksha Mitra assigned BLO duties dies in Deoria
GORAKHPUR, Nov. 28 -- A Shiksha Mitra deployed as a booth level officer (BLO) in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, died on Wednesday while being taken to Lucknow for treatment. Her family alleges that excessive work pressure and a late-evening video-conference triggered a heart attack, while district authorities have denied holding any such meeting with BLOs.
Officials identified the deceased as Ranju Dubey (41), a resident of Maniyapura village in Majha Narayan, Rudrapur block. She was working as a Shiksha Mitra at Primary School Mathia Pandey and had been assigned BLO duty at Booth No. 7.

The SDM added that the administration had been informed on Wednesday morning about the death of Ranju Devi, who was already unwell and being taken to Lucknow for treatment.
Deoria chief medical officer (CMO), Dr AK Gupta, said that the possibility of a suspected cardiac arrest cannot be ruled out, but added that final confirmation is not possible without a post-mortem or medical examination.
