LUCKNOW, Feb. 2 -- The proposal in the Union Budget 2026-27 to establish Self-Help Entrepreneur (SHE) Marts is being seen as a major step towards women empowerment in Uttar Pradesh. With the launch of SHE Marts, rural women will no longer remain limited to loan-based livelihoods. Instead, they will become owners of their own enterprises and write a new story of self-reliance. The budget strengthens the vision of chief minister Yogi Adityanath under which a massive campaign is underway in Uttar Pradesh to make three crore women self-reliant, said a state government spokesperson. SHE-Marts will be community-owned retail outlets developed under cluster-level federations. The objective is to provide women entrepreneurs with an organised, reliable and sustainable platform for selling their products, he said. Advanced and innovative financing instruments will be used for this purpose and the central government will implement the initiative on the ground in partnership with state governments, he added.
