Lucknow, Oct. 15 -- Energy and Urban Development Minister A K Sharma on Tuesday directed officials to ensure uninterrupted 24-hour power supply across Uttar Pradesh during Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Chhath Puja. Chairing a virtual review meeting, he instructed officers to avoid shutdowns and low-voltage issues, and to complete all pending power connections before Diwali. Expressing displeasure over recent accidents caused by hanging wires, he said public safety must remain the top priority. Sharma also ordered municipal bodies to maintain cleanliness, level roads, and ensure adequate lighting and drinking water facilities, especially near ghats and markets. He warned that the concerned Municipal Commissioner or Executive Officer would be held accountable if streetlights remained off during the festive period. Directing intensified fogging and anti-larvae measures, he said street vendors must not be displaced under the pretext of encroachment. He emphasised teamwork to ensure citizens celebrate safely and without inconvenience. htc...
