Shadab Jakati arrested after FIR over 'obscene' reel, granted bail
MEERUT, Nov. 28 -- Viral social media content creator Shadab Jakati was arrested by Meerut police on Thursday afternoon after an FIR was registered against him at Incholi police station, officials said.
A complaint was filed by a local resident, Aneesh, claiming that Jakati's latest reel, featuring a minor girl, contained obscene comments and inappropriate involvement of a child. Superintendent of police (rural) Abhijeet Kumar said, "Based on a complaint received, an FIR has been registered under Section 296 (obscene acts and songs) of the BNS and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. He was arrested from his home and produced before the court. He was granted bail after he tendered an apology."
Jakati shot to fame with his viral video featuring the dialogue, "How much is a 10-rupee biscuit?", and currently has over 10 million followers across social media platforms. He also faced criticism on social media for remarks described by viewers as "obscene, sexist and objectionable".
The complaint alleged that the video contained obscenity and inappropriate themes involving a minor. Social media users also criticised the script for its portrayal of women and for suggesting colour-based remarks.
Jakati's "10 rupee biscuit" reel has drawn millions of views and has been recreated by celebrities -- from rapper/singer Badshah to cricketers Rinku Singh and Kuldeep Yadav, and others....
