Senior KGMU doctor accused of sexual misconduct
LUCKNOW, Sept. 27 -- A junior resident doctor of the King George's Medical University (KGMU) has accused a senior faculty of sexual misconduct. The complainant and the senior doctor are deployed at KGMU's department of obstetrics and gynaecology, also known as Queen Mary's Hospital.
As per the complainant's letter to the hospital on September 19, the incident happened on September 17. The senior doctor allegedly touched the woman's hands and made an inappropriate comment. The resident doctor claims the senior doctor had contacted her over the phone earlier, it stated.
Dr KK Singh, the media cell in-charge, said the administration has referred the issue to the Vishakha Committee, which is investigating the matter. The committee has been instructed to submit its recommendations as soon as possible to KGMU, VC.
The Vishakha Committee, constituted under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013, is responsible for investigating such complaints....
