Seminar sheds light on Kakori Train Action
LUCKNOW, Aug. 11 -- CB Gupta BSS Degree College here hosted a national seminar to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Kakori Train Action-a pivotal event in India's freedom struggle.
It was jointly organised jointly by Bharat Seva Sansthan and the Motilal Memorial Society on Saturday. In his keynote address, Prof Sanjay Singh, VC, Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, said: "From the Battle of Plassey to the Kakori incident, our history is full of lessons. Universities must serve as hubs for such critical discourse," he said. Presiding over the event, Prof Ramesh Dixit, ex-HoD, political science at Lucknow University, said: "The suspension of the Non-Cooperation Movement had created a vacuum. The Kakori Action was a courageous assertion against British imperialism," he remarked. Prof Harsh Sharma, director, Giri Institute of Development Studies, said the Kakori Train Action was not merely a heist but a "bold act of armed resistance". Former MP Dr Ashok Bajpai and former LU VC Prof SP Singh were also present. The seminar was moderated by Dr Sudha Bajpai, principal, CB Gupta College. Monika Bhonwal, director, Bhonwal Institute, Dr Manoj Pandey, president, LUACTA, and CRPF 91st Battalion Commandant Jitendra Ojha also attented the event that concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Narendra Mani Tripathi. htc...
