PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 25 -- A seminar on "Good Governance, Accountability, and Financial Management in the Audit of Autonomous Bodies" was held at the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit-I), Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj, as part of the ongoing Audit Week celebrations taking place from November 20 to 27, 2025. The programme was chaired by Raj Kumar, principal accountant general (Audit-I) Uttar Pradesh and conducted by Lokesh Choudhary, deputy accountant general/ AMG-V. Professor (retd) Geetika Goyal, of MNNIT Allahabad delivered a lecture on the topic and shared her working experience. She discussed key challenges such as under-utilisation or misuse of grants, weak internal controls, excessive autonomy without accountability, overlap between government oversight and institutional functioning, and shortage of professional financial personnel, along with other related issues. During the event, the Principal Accountant General discussed issues regarding improper maintenance of accounts in autonomous bodies and delay in submission of accounts for audit.
