AGRA, Nov. 22 -- Security at the Agra civil court premises was stepped up on Friday after two groups of lawyers clashed violently a day earlier. As a precaution, entry on Friday was also restricted to those carrying identity cards. These clashes stemmed from a dispute involving a lawyer whose matrimonial case is pending in Agra court. The opposing group represents the lawyer's wife in the same matter. According to the information, on Thursday, the two groups clashed twice, leaving several people injured, including Bharatiya Kisan Union office-bearer Pawan Samadhia, who is also related to the lawyer's wife. Later, both groups filed cross-cases at the New Agra police station. A total of three cases have been registered at the New Agra police station in connection with the clashes. The groups had first clashed on Wednesday and then again on Thursday, prompting police intervention and evacuation of the court premises. Agra Commissioner Deepak Kumar visited the court complex to assess the situation. Chaudhary Ajay Singh, who heads Janmanch, a lawyers' association, has urged the feuding groups to exercise restraint to help restore normalcy on the Agra court premises....
