SEC outlines expenditurelimits for candidates
LUCKNOW, Nov. 4 -- A candidate for the district panchayat chairperson's post can spend a maximum Rs 7 lakh during polls, the State Election Commission (SEC) said in a letter to all district returning officers for the panchayat elections scheduled to be held in the state next year.
A gram panchayat pradhan candidate can incur expenditure of up to Rs 1,25,000 during the elections while a nominee for the post of kshetra panchayat member can spend up to Rs 1 lakh. A candidate for zila panchayat member can spend up to Rs 2.5 lakh and a candidate for the kshetra panchayat chairperson's post can incur expenditure of Rs 3.5 lakh, according to the letter.
