Search on for 4 accused of robbing Cong leader: DCP
Jaipur, May 16 -- The Jaipur police has launched a manhunt at the Nepal bordering areas in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and Delhi to nab the four accused, including two of the househelps, who robbed the house of the senior Congress leader Sandeep Chaudhary in Jaipur on Wednesday, an officer said on Thursday.
"We have received some technical leads and also questioned a slew of suspects. We also found that they fled the area in taxi with Haryana number plate. On Wednesday night, teams were sent at the Nepal borders in UP and Bihar, and Delhi in search of the four. We will arrest them soon," said Amit Budaniya, DCP in Jaipur (West).
"Of the four - a couple Bharat and Kajal - were hired by Chaudhary and his family 10 days ago. They are based in Nepal but no police verification was done yet. On Wednesday morning, Bharat spiked the tea of Chaudhary's wife and mother in the morning, called two of his other aides - Jebar and Nandi - after they fainted, and stole about Rs.7 Lakh and several gold jewellery before running away," he further said.
The station house officer of the Vaishali Nagar police station, Ravindra Singh Narooka, said: "The incident took place early on Wednesday morning when Chaudhary's wife Mamata (43) and mother Krishna (75) were having tea at the dining space. Chaudhary was away from home while his 10-year-old son and 22-year-old daughter were inside a room."
"When they fainted, the two also called two other men from outside who robbed the house. Meanwhile, Sandeep called Mamata several times which went off with no response," he said. "Following the incident, he called his daughter Rajyasree who came out of the room and found Krishna and Mamata unconscious on the floor. She then called one of their neighbours and rushed them to the hospital where they are still undergoing treatment," the SHO said, adding that an FIR has been registered under necessary sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Commenting on the matter, ex-CM Ashok Gehlot on Thursday slammed the BJP over rising crimes in the state.
"This incident at Congress leader Sandeep Chaudhary's house proves that law and order have been finished in Rajasthan. Such theft, and robbery are rapidly increasing in Jaipur scaring the common people. Police also fail to nab these criminals. People want to know when they would be free from this scary environment," he said. htc...
