VARANASI, Nov. 11 -- Prof Sushma Ghildial, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Controller of Examinations, BHU on Monday commended the archaeologists and historians of Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archaeology, BHU for preserving the long tradition of ceramics and pottery. She was speaking at the opening session as chief guest in the seven-day international workshop on "Ancient Indian Ceramics and Art" at the Bharti Auditorium of the Department. Dr VN Prabhakar, a senior archaeologist at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, specifically highlighted the expansion of Indian cultural heritage abroad through pottery and ceramics. He also drew participants' attention to the long-term sustainability and utility of their religious, cultural, and scientific dimensions. Senior Prof Pravesh Kumar Srivastava presided over the programme.Prof MP Ahirwar, head of the department, said, "Seven-day international workshop focuses on discussion on the contribution of ceramics and pottery to the cultural heritage of ancient India." Prof Ahirwar said that over 60 participants will be imparted training in the utility, manufacturing techniques, and regional characteristics of pottery and clay arts with various dimensions of study of Archaeology by prominent archaeologists....
