VARANASI, July 27 -- The Kashi Telugu Sangam's 25th Maha Shatavadhanam began in Varanasi at Sri Shankar Shringeri Math, in Mahmoorganj, here, on Friday with amazing presentations of scholarly traditions and knowledge systems. Hundreds of Telugu, Sanskrit and Hindi scholars from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have reached Kashi to participate in this three-day religious-literary event organised on the occasion of the 75th birth year of Shankaracharya Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Swami of Shringeri Shankar Math, "Vajrotsav Bharati".Most important among the events is the 25th Maha Shatavadhanam. Maha (great) Shatavadhana "concentration". It's a traditional literary performance where a person (an Avadhani) demonstrates his cognitive abilities by simultaneously engaging with different scholarly activities like responding to queries and listening. In Maha Shatavadhanam, Brahmashri Vaddiparti Padmakar will listen to 100 questions on various subjects from 100 scholars for three days and answer them one by one. On the first day, Telugu and Sanskrit scholars composed poems on the word groups given in the Dattapaadi session, and in the Varnanam session, they displayed their scholarly and poetic talent using the letters given. The poems recited on Kashi, and Prayagraj received a lot of applause and praise.This historic event of Avadhan literature in Kashi has been organised under the aegis of Kashi Telugu Sangam. Minister of state for stamps, court fee and registration Ravindra Jaiswal, AYUSH minister Dr Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu and Kashi mayor Ashok Tiwari attended the programme and extended their best wishes....
