New Delhi, Oct. 15 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought the response of the Centre along with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on the application of the Sahara Group seeking the court's nod to seal a deal with the Adani Group for the sale of 88 properties. The Sahara group faces a liability of refunding depositors under a failed debenture scheme. A top court order of August 2012 required the entire amount of Rs.25,000 crore to be deposited in a common SEBI-Sahara refund account. Till date, over Rs.16,000 crore has been deposited and Sahara is facing a contempt petition in the top court filed by SEBI for the remaining Rs.9,480 crore. As the 88 Sahara properties proposed to be sold to Adani Properties Limited are spread over the country, several applications were filed by persons claiming be the owners of the property....
