LUCKNOW, July 13 -- The state capital experienced 39.5mm rain on Saturday morning that brought down the rain deficit from a staggering 30% to 17% within 24 hours. The rain brought some relief from the humidity for people braving the sultry weather. The forecast for Lucknow and adjoining areas is a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of light rain/thundershowers. Day and night temperatures will be around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively. Lucknowites woke up to an overcast sky and followed by brisk rain thereafter, which led to waterlogging in several areas of the city. So far, since July 1, the state capital has received 137.7 mm rain against a normal of 166.8 mm, according to IMD data.Since June 1, UP as a whole received 5% excess rain. The state experienced 199.9 mm rain against normal 190.9 mm as of Saturday (July 12). East UP received 173.6 mm rain against normal 211.4 mm, deficit of 18% and West UP experienced 237.6 mm rainfall against normal 162 mm, which is 47% excess. Sultanpur got a maximum of 44.2 mm rainfall, Jhansi 40.8 mm, Banda 18.2 mm, Hamirpur 17 mm, Fursatganj 13.6 mm, Met officials are hopeful that in a few days, the state capital and adjoining areas will receive a decent amount of rain.
