Lucknow, June 19 -- Uttar Pradesh's Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas have emerged as a model of social inclusion and equality in education. The number of students benefiting from these fully residential, free-of-cost schools has steadily grown over the years-from 32,429 in 2018-19 to nearly 37,000 in 2025-26, a spokesperson said. The addition of approximately 4,571 students over the last seven years reflects the government's dedication to integrate underprivileged children into the mainstream. In 2018-19, Sarvodaya Vidyalayas were operational in 100 schools across 58 districts. By 2025-26, this number has grown to 109 schools in 62 districts.
