LUCKNOW, Jan. 20 -- Local boy Sanyam Srivastava of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus 1 won the 4th Sunita Verma Memorial Open Chess Tournament organised by Chess Club Black & White (CCBW) with 6.5/7 points. Pawan Batham (State Tax Office) drew the last round with Sanyam to take the second spot with 5.5 points. Mohd Irfan won the senior citizens' section title with remarkable three wins over rated players and a draw with the highly-rated fellow senior citizen, KK Khare. Suchitra Tandon (DPS Jankipuram) and Vedant Mishra (DPS Eldeco) scored 4.5 points each to win the Unrated and Under 16 Rated categories. Eshaan Wal (Kanpur) won the Junior Section with 6 points followed by Araddhya Agarwal (St Francis) with 5.5 points. The star of the junior section was Daksh Malik who scored 5 points. Daksh was an inspiration for everyone as he chose to play despite his physical limitations. Shivangi (Karamat Husain Girls' College) won the women's title.
