Sanskrit varsity V-C, wife killed in accident
VARANASI, Aug. 24 -- The vice chancellor of Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek (Nagpur), Prof Hareram Tripathi, 58, and his wife Badami Devi, 56, died in a road accident on Saturday near Basharatpur under the jurisdiction of Dohrighat police station in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh. One person, Vaibhav Kumar, was injured in the accident.
According to the police, the car in which they were traveling collided with a stationary trailer. Upon receiving information, local police reached the scene and identified the deceased as Prof Hareram Tripathi and his wife. The injured, Vaibhav Kumar, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Inspector Raj Kumar Singh, in charge of the Doharighat police station, said that the victims were residents of Mirganj in Gopalganj district, Bihar. They were on their way to Gopalganj from Nagpur.
Vaibhav Kumar, who survived the crash, informed the police that Prof Tripathi had taken over driving the car after Vaibhav began to feel drowsy. As the vehicle approached Basharatpur in the Dohrighat area, one of the tires reportedly burst, causing the car to crash into a stationary trailer. Both Prof Tripathi and his wife died on the spot.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Prof Hareram Tripathi, and his wife, who were killed in a road accident in Mau district.
