Sankatmochan music festival to showcase unity with over 150 artistes
VARANASI, March 31 -- More than 150 classical artists, including 14 Muslim performers, will take part in the 103rd edition of the Sankatmochan Sangeet Samaroh at the Sankatmochan Temple from April 6 to April 11. The announcement was made by temple chief priest prof Vishwambhar Nath Mishra.
He said the participation of Muslim artists, who will perform in devotion to Lord Hanuman, reflects communal harmony and cultural unity. Artists such as Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, Shiraz Ali Khan and Mehtab Ali Niazi will perform.
As many as 11 Padma awardees and 45 lead performers are part of the event. Prof Mishra said the festival is not just a musical platform but a symbol of inclusivity.
A Ramayana conference will be held from April 2 to April 5 ahead of the festival to mark Hanuman Jayanti. Discourses on the Ramcharitmanas will also be organised. He appealed to devotees to take part in the celebrations....
