Sambhal: 4 cops injured in clash during wedding
MEERUT, July 2 -- Four police personnel were injured in stone-pelting while they tried to intervene during a clash between two groups at a wedding in a village in Dhanari area, an official said on Tuesday.
Superintendent of police (SP) Krishan Kumar Bishnoi while addressing the media confirmed that an FIR had been registered against 40 people, with 22 arrests made so far. He added that efforts are underway to arrest those who fled the scene.
As per the reports, a dispute over DJ dancing between the bride and groom's sides escalated into stone-pelting and led to the wedding being called off, with the groom fleeing the venue along with his relatives. The incident occurred in Daroli village under the Dhanari police station area of Sambhal district on Monday night.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and found around 45-50 people from both sides pelting stones. Sub-inspectors Basant Kumar and Ankit Kumar suffered head injuries, while constables Pawan Dhaka and Akshay Kumar sustained limb injuries.
