Meerut, May 4 -- Sambhal's controversial deputy superintendent of police Anuj Chaudhary has been transferred to Chandausi circle with senior police officials claiming that it was done as per the routine process. The officer was embroiled in a row over allegedly communal remarks made by him in March. The director general of police (DGP) has revoked a previous clean chit granted to Chaudhary, ordering a re-investigation. ASP Shrish Chandra confirmed that the case is being reinvestigated. The ASP has now directed the complainant to submit corroborating evidence and statements within three days for the renewed investigation. Superintendent of police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi made key changes at the circle level, appointing new officers in three major circles. ASP Alok Kumar has been named the new circle officer (CO) of Sambhal, replacing Chaudhary. Chaudhary was in the news for sparking a controversy during a peace committee meeting held ahead of Holi and Juma (Friday prayers) in March. In his alleged remarks, Chaudhary had stated, "Holi comes once a year, while Juma comes 52 times. If someone has an issue with colours, they should remain indoors." He had allegedly added, "If you want to serve sevai on Eid, you must also eat gujiya on Holi." The comments quickly went viral on social media, drawing criticism from multiple quarters. An initial inquiry into the matter had exonerated Chaudhary, with ASP Shrish Chandra concluding that the allegations were baseless. However, the clean chit has now been annulled. Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur had written to the DGP, alleging that Chaudhary repeatedly violated service rules and uniform regulations, made unauthorized public statements, and attempted to communalise policing, thereby creating insecurity among a particular community. Now, a fresh inquiry has been ordered. Before joining the police force, Chaudhary (46) had a career in wrestling, representing India at national and international levels. Chaudhary joined the Uttar Pradesh Police through the sports quota and became a deputy SP in the 2012 batch, during the tenure of the then chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. Earlier, Chaudhary had been in the news for his public disagreements with senior politicians like Azam Khan and for leading a religious procession while in uniform....
