Samarth portal glitches: Workshop to train teachers in data feeding
LUCKNOW, May 17 -- A day after Hindustan Times highlighted the problems faced by higher education teachers in uploading their documents and other information on Samarth portal, a 13-day workshop was announced on Friday with an aim to train professors in data feeding.
In a letter issued by special secretary, higher education, Nidhi Srivastava, it was announced that a training workshop would be held from May 19 to 31. The sessions will be conducted in collaboration with Dinesh Chandra Sharma and Parvez Shamim of Kumari Mayawati Government College in Badalpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The letter also mentioned that the pending cases on principal's portal for data verification should be done by May 31. The portal will be reopened from June 1-15 so that teachers can feed the data. Teachers who have already submitted their data will also be able to apply for promotions under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS). The letter also directed principals to provide login to IQAC and college managers.
Manoj Pandey, president of the Lucknow University Associated Colleges Teachers' Association (LUACTA), welcomed the government's move, saying: "This is a ray of hope and gave us confidence that the shortcomings of the portal will be addressed." "Teachers across the state had been struggling for over a month to upload their information. The extension and training, in response to the union's demand, have brought much-needed relief to the teaching community," Pandey added....
