Sahitya Vithika at Allahabad Museum to showcase rare manuscripts, literary gems
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 30 -- In a pioneering move to connect the younger generation with the richness of Hindi literature, the country's first-ever literary gallery, Sahitya Vithika, is all set to open its doors at the Allahabad Museum.
The gallery will showcase rare handwritten manuscripts and original literary works by iconic Hindi writers such as Munshi Premchand, Maithili Sharan Gupt, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Mahadevi Verma, Sumitra Nandan Pant, Lala Bhagwan Das, Naresh Mehta, and Sridhar Pathak, among others.
Officials said Sahitya Vithika aims to celebrate the lasting contributions of these literary greats and inspire future generations to appreciate the richness of Hindi literature.
Sahitya Vithika will provide a rare glimpse into the personal lives of iconic Hindi writers. For the first time, the gallery will display personal items such as pens, coats, handwritten diaries, watches, kurtas, and national awards belonging to these literary stalwarts.
According to Rajesh Mishra, deputy curator of Allahabad Museum, the gallery will include vertical panels with acrylic sheets detailing the life and achievements of each featured litterateur.
Their personal memorabilia, including prestigious national awards, will be showcased in specially designed wooden shelves.
Among the highlights will be the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards of Ram Kumar Verma, the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Jnanpith Award of Mahadevi Verma, and the Padma Bhushan and Jnanpith Award of Sumitra Nandan Pant.
"Currently, 23 rare handwritten manuscripts by legendary writers will be on display, including six manuscripts of Sumitra Nandan Pant, four manuscripts of Munshi Prem Chand, three each of Mahadevi Verma and Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, along with copy of first edition of Munshi Premchand's book Nirmala," he added.
Also, rare copies of 'Rupabh' magazine published by Sumitra Nandan Pant will also be part of the gallery.
As per the Museum official, rare audio-video footage of the literary figures presenting their works on public platforms beside their television interviews would also be screened in the gallery regularly.
As per sources Bollywood actor and Star of the Millennium Amitabh Bachchan could inaugurate the Vithika next month. However, no official confirmation of the same was received from Museum officials....
