VARANASI, Nov. 19 -- Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has extended the Safety Alert Button feature of its "Namaste BHU" mobile app to the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus in Barkachha, Mirzapur. The feature was formally launched at the South Campus on Tuesday Located about 60 kilometers from the Varanasi campus, the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus spans roughly 2,700 acres and houses academic buildings, laboratories, hostels, administrative offices, a central library and facilities for agricultural and veterinary sciences. Nearly 1,900 students are enrolled on the campus, including 866 female students, highlighting the need for enhanced safety measures. With the rollout of this feature, female students at the South Campus can now use the emergency safety button through the "Namaste BHU" app to request immediate assistance whenever required. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi reaffirmed the university's commitment to ensuring a secure environment for students across both the Varanasi and Barkachha campuses.
