Agra, Sept. 12 -- Uttar Pradesh Tourism hosted a three-day Familiarisation (FAM) Trip beginning Wednesday at Jait village, Mathura, to showcase rural and cultural experiences under the Agri Rural and Gangey Gram Rural Tourism Project. A delegation from Sri Lanka joined the initiative, designed to promote heritage, crafts, and community living. The programme began with a traditional Braj welcome, followed by prayers at the Kaliya Nag Temple, where Krishna's legendary encounter with the serpent was narrated. Visitors also explored Jai Kund, linked to Braj's cultural landscape. The group engaged with local self-help groups, trying pottery, Tulsi farming, and crafting Tulsi malas and Krishna attire. At Bhagya Shree Tulsi outlet, they saw how rural women are turning craft into livelihoods. A homestay experience at Shri Homestay offered Braj cuisine, cultural interaction, and devotional songs. The itinerary included ISKCON temple in Mathura, registered farm stays, and stops at Agra's Taj Mahal. In Mainpuri, guests experienced bullock and horse cart rides, temple visits, and seasonal farming. Tourism minister Jaiveer Singh said rural tourism would "create jobs, preserve culture, and welcome the world."
