Run for Unity held in Kashi amid rain
Varanasi, Nov. 1 -- Amid intermittent rain, the Run for Unity was organised in Kashi on Friday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The run began from Sardar Patel's statue at the Maldahiya intersection and concluded at the Sampurnanand Sports Complex in Sigra, passing through Gulab Bagh, IP Sigra and Sajan Tiraha. A large crowd gathered at Maldahiya Square, where people holding the Tricolour raised slogans of "Sardar Patel Amar Rahe" and pledged to uphold the spirit of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat."
Minister of state (independent charge) Ravindra Jaiswal, Kashi region BJP president Dilip Patel, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, district panchayat president Poonam Maurya and thousands of residents participated in the run.
