RSS gets no foreign funding, runs on voluntary contributions: Yogi
Lucknow, Nov. 24 -- Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Sunday that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) does not receive funding from any foreign country or entity and runs on voluntary contributions.
The CM was speaking at the 'Divya Gita Prerna Utsav' in Lucknow's Janeshwar Mishra Park. He, along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, was the chief guest at the event.
He said, "Diplomats and foreign envoys often ask how the Sangh operates. We tell them that we have worked as 'swayamsevaks' (volunteers)...No OPEC country or international church funds it. RSS stands on the strength of society and works with a spirit of service."
He added that the organisation serves every distressed person, irrespective of religion, language or region. "RSS teaches that the nation comes first, and anyone who can contribute to taking India to greater heights must be supported," he said.
Bhagwat, at the event on Sunday, referring to India as a Hindu society and Hindu Rashtra, said that the teachings of Bhagavad Gita provide clarity and guidance in every age and circumstance. He likened Arjuna's moral dilemma on the battlefield to the confusion experienced by many today. "Today the world is lost, exhausted and directionless despite material progress. There is wealth and comfort, but no peace," the RSS chief said. "Just as Lord Krishna removed Arjuna's confusion, the Gita can help humanity confront its challenges today." He also noted that India's civilisational identity has survived both glory and adversity for thousands of years. "India was a world leader once. It endured invasions for centuries and still stands. To rise again, we must understand our essence. If we live the Gita...the society will change...India will move towards becoming a vishwaguru again."...
