RSS Gen Secy set to visit U.S. for outreach event
Washington/New Delhi, April 10 -- Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah (general secretary) Dattatreya Hosabale is scheduled to travel to the US to interact with students and members of the Indian diaspora, people aware of the details said on Wednesday.
According to one functionary of the Sangh, the ideological fount of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, it is after a long time that a Sarkaryavah is travelling abroad for an outreach programme.
"There is an event planned at Boston University, where he has been invited to address students. Similar interactions are also planned with a select group of people and possibly the media as well during the stay," the functionary, speaking on condition of anonymity, said.
The Sangh also distanced Hosabale's visit from any political outreach and said the report's recommendations were baseless.
The functionary quoted above said there was no "specific agenda" for the visit.
"In the past when Hosabale was the palak adhikari (caretaker) of the Sangh's vishwa vibhag, he travelled abroad on several occasions. Since assuming charge (of general secretary) he has not travelled abroad. In fact, it is after a long time that any Sahkaryavah is visiting another country," the functionary said. Hosabale travelled to the United States and the Caribbean in 2011.
Hosabale's predecessor, Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi, did not travel abroad during his stint....
